What sets us apart:

sofatutor is a digital learning platform that supports over one million students, their parents, and teachers in learning and teaching with engaging videos, interactive exercises, educational games, and helpful learning materials. Our goal is to make learning simple, effective, and accessible to everyone. We are driven by the ambition to go beyond the status quo - constantly evolving, both for our users and for ourselves. We learn from one another, actively give and receive feedback, and grow together as a team. Our strong belief in the power of digital education to create real impact is a key source of motivation for us. We thrive in a dynamic environment: we think flexibly, act in a solution-oriented way, and are open to using modern tools like artificial intelligence.

Your Tasks:

We are looking for a Product Designer who is passionate about developing new, conceptual solutions to real user problems and excited about helping create the next generation of student-friendly, AI-supported learning features. These are your detailed tasks:

  • As an Individual Contributor, you take ownership of the redesign of our learning platform across web and mobile – with a focus on simple, intuitive, and motivating user experiences tailored to children aged 6 to 14. You will report directly to our VP of Content & Product Experience.

  • Together with your peers from Product, Education, and Engineering, you design adaptive and AI-powered learning features and user flows that effectively solve real student problems in an engaging way.

  • You collaborate closely with other designers and creatives on a project basis, actively contributing your experience to shared initiatives. You will also be in regular contact with our Team Lead for Illustration and Design.

Your Profile:

  • Product & UX Design:

    • Several years of experience in designing digital products (web and mobile), with responsibility for UX concepts, user flows, and interface design.

    • Experience in collaborating closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and stakeholders across discovery and delivery phases, and the ability to clearly communicate and justify design decisions.

  • Feature & Product Concept Thinking:

    • Experience in developing new product features from problem definition through user journeys and interaction concepts to validated prototypes.

    • Experience in exploring solution spaces together with Product Management, developing multiple concept approaches, and evaluating them in a structured way.

  • Ability to simplify complexity:

    • Proven ability to translate complex platforms or feature sets into clear, intuitive, and easy-to-understand user experiences.

    • Strong sense for information architecture, feature structuring, and prioritization of user needs.

  • Engagement & Interaction Design:

    • Experience in designing interactive and motivating user experiences that guide, activate, and retain users over time.

    • Strong skills in UX concepting, wireframing, high-fidelity design, and prototyping to develop and validate solutions.

  • Languages: Fluent in English, German is a plus

  • Tools: Experience with modern design and prototyping tools (especially Figma)

  • Optional:

    • Experience with personalized or AI-powered interfaces

    • Experience with platform or product redesigns

    • Experience with learning, children’s, or consumer products

    • Experience with gamification or motivation design
